We've just had two guildies hacked, Teraxe has been hacked in the past and so have others. The store is down for Tuesday maintenance right now, but I think these things are like $6.

Don't think "it can't happen to me." It can, and the odds that it will aren't bad. If you're like me, I'd rather just drop a nominal fee for ultimate peace of mind rather than gamble that I'll have to deal with hackers and getting stuff back from Blizz.

Or if you have an iPhone you can download the authenticator app from the App store for free. I do this. Works like a charm.

what the authenticator does is generate a random number that you enter wheny ou are logging into your wow account. Each authenticator has its on algorithim for generating the random 6 digit number, and when you get the authenticator, you link it to your wow account, so your wow account will know what the random 6 digit number that your authenticator will give you at any given time.

If I were to ever get "hacked", I'd rather have my account stolen be a big red flag for me than have the keylogger still hiding on my machine with me not knowing about it while it could still potentially steal other, more important information (I.E., credit card info).

But that's just me. I'm a paranoid person. The authenticators aren't a bad idea despite what I said above. And I don't actually know for a fact that the most common WoW-targeting keyloggers target non-WoW things like credit card usage. I just hate the idea of getting one then not knowing it's sitting there on my PC.

People should learn how to prevent themselves from getting such maleware.

A gigantic step towards the above statement would be to only go to TRUSTED WEBSITES!

Also, getting ZoneAlarm helps a ton with unwanted things trying to access the internet. So if you have any maleware for some reason, and the maleware is trying to send information, zonealarm will alert you and even dive you the file path for said information.

Actually there is a version for almost all phones on the website, not just the iphone. (They're all free)
